From 29 April to 6 May, class 4A was in Greenwich/London. We stayed with host families, all of which were nice and friendly, and went to school from 9 am until 12:30 pm. Discussions about Brexit and its consequences, British culture and even Shakespeare were part of our curriculum.
As we wanted to see as much of England as we could, we had a very tight itinerary.
On Sunday, we went to Brighton by bus to see the Royal Pavilion and to spend the day by the sea and on Brighton Palace Pier.
Monday was a public holiday, so we spent all day sightseeing in Central London. Amongst other things we saw Buckingham Palace and the changing of the guards. Whilst walking around, we also caught glimpses of Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament.
Tuesday was an exhausting day. English classes in the morning, then a guided tour in Greenwich, followed by a boat trip up the Thames - passing the London Eye and many other attractions - we finally ended the day in the West End. Disney’s Aladdin at the Price Edward Theatre, a musical with superb lighting and sound effects, turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip to London.
On Wednesday, some of us visited the Shard, Europe’s highest building, to see the sights of London from a high vantage point, while others went to the Warner Bros Studios and spent their time immersed in the making of Harry Potter.
The Tower Bridge Exhibition, Tate Modern, St. Paul's Cathedral and Covent Garden were on our agenda on Thursday, and on Friday, we finally went to experience the hustle and bustle of Camden Market and Oxford Street. A perfect day for shopaholics!
Saturday was spent packing and socialising with our host families before catching the bus back to Heathrow Airport.
