4a, 4b, Language week in Bray / Republic of Ireland, 21 – 28 April 2018
The macabre bog bodies and the ancient gold hoard in the Irish Archaeology Museum, the beauty of Glendalough, the “valley of the two lakes”, the dark secrets of Wicklow Jail and the clarity of the skies after a rain shower - these and many more impressions shaped this year’s language week of the 4th year students in Ireland.
The weather? Irish – sunshine, hail, and rain in turns.
The landscape? Irish – lush green meadows dotted with countless white (and black) lambs and the yellow blossoms of the gorse.
The people? Irish – incredibly friendly, patient and humorous. As the Irish say, ‘There are two kinds of people in the world, the Irish and those who wish they were.’
Lessons in the mornings, trips or hiking tours in the afternoon, sufficient free time for shopping and socializing – our week-long stay in Bray, a placid seaside resort south of Dublin, had it all.
